What is this?
Facial rejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment (or series of treatments) which aim to restore a youthful appearance to the human face by reshaping it with fat from your own body
Facial rejuvenation can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery or nose reshaping. It also corrects drooping eyebrows and deep wrinkles or furrows around eyebrows or forehead.
As we age, our faces begin to reflect the effect of gravity, sun exposure and daily stress.. Deep furrows form around our nose and mouth, our cheeks sag and wrinkles and fat appear around our neck. Even though facial rejuvenation cannot stop this aging process, it can help delay the clock by improving the most visible signs of age by tightening lax face muscles and eliminating and redistributing fat deposits in our face and neck.
A traditional facelift incision often begins in the hairline at the temples, continues around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat may be sculpted or redistributed from the face, jowls and neck and underlying tissue is repositioned, commonly the deeper layers of the face and the muscles are also lifted. Skin is draped over the uplifted contours and excess skin is trimmed away.
2-4 hours for a complete facelift and if eyelid or liposuction is also performed, a drain is used to reduce possible bruising and swelling.
It is normal to continue experiencing swelling and bruising on the face and neck, around the eyes and possibly around the ears during the second week of your facelift recovery. You may feel numbness, tingling, tightness or burning as a result of the swelling and bruising — all of which are normal aftereffects of the procedure and should subside with analgesics- Most scars are hidden in hairline above temples and in back of neck. By the third week, patients can usually resume their normal activities, maybe even return to work.
Facelift risks, are rare, and in most cases are temporary, such as bruising, poor wound healing, temporary or permanent air loss at the incisions, eyebrow or mouth movement alteration. Only in very rare occasions are minor secondary surgeries required to treat these complications.
A facelift not only gives you an immediate youthful appearance, but it also helps delay your apparent age longer than your chronological age. If , with the passing of time, new wrinkles and creases appear, a second facelift is possible.
